On September 10, 2017, Hurricane Irma blasted nearly the entire peninsula of Florida. Days of preparation, miles of evacuations, hours of fear and uncertainty infused our lives as well as those of our neighbors. While basking in the overwhelming relief of the “near miss” for our area, the ripple effects from time and money expended for boarding up, evacuating, stocking up on supplies, losing food to days without electricity were felt by all. Businesses were dark for days or weeks, effecting the pocketbooks of not just the owners but also for their valued employees. On September 15, the LET’S HELP! Englewood initiative was mobilized to help the families and workers in our community.
Recognizing that it can be tough to recover from hurricane related setbacks that are not “budgeted”, we are extending an invitation to request hundreds of dollars of cash in your pocket from donations that have been received from your generous and caring neighbors and businesses.
