Meet Armando J. Ubeda, Florida Sea Grant Extension Agent at UF/IFAS Extension Sarasota County 🌱🌊. Armando’s work focuses on:

From coral reef research in Nicaragua 🏝 to serving as a Staff Biologist in Shark Research at Mote Marine Laboratory 🦈, Armando’s background spans continents and ecosystems. He’s also served as a Mesoamerican Program Manager at LightHawk πŸ¦…, working on marine conservation at a regional scale.
Armando holds a B.S. in Marine Sciences with a minor in Chemistry πŸ§ͺ, and an M.S. in Marine Resource Management πŸŒŠπŸŽ“. He has completed postgraduate courses in marine ecology, crocodile ecology 🐊, and environmental impact assessment.

A Fulbright Scholar and recipient of the Hatfield Marine Science Center’s Mamie Markham Research Award πŸ…, Armando was also a Global Fellow at the Duke University Marine Laboratory 🌐. Now pursuing a Ph.D. at UF’s Wildlife Ecology and Conservation Department, he focuses his research on shark behavior and population structure πŸ¦ˆπŸ”¬.
