Inside the Night Sky and Beyond
“Inside the Night Sky and Beyond” with Hermitage Fellows Anne Patterson, Patrick Harlin, and Anthony Hawley, Friday, January 5, 5pm: After meeting while in residence at the Hermitage, multidisciplinary visual artist Anne Patterson and composer Patrick Harlin have joined forces to create an upcoming exhibition at the Sarasota Art Museum: The Truth of the Night Sky. Patterson, who is familiar to Sarasota audiences from previous exhibitions at The Ringling Museum and is currently represented in New York at the Cathedral of St. John the Divine, is widely celebrated for her grand environments that immerse the viewer and surround the senses. This original experience is augmented by Harlin’s composition “Earthrise,” inspired by the revolutionary photograph taken of the Earth on humanity’s first turn around the moon in 1968. Before Patterson and Harlin begin the conversation on the Hermitage Beach, join contemporary visual artist Anthony Hawley in an open-studio environment on the Hermitage campus, as he shares in-process works and selections of past creations. Hear from these three remarkable creators in the midst of creating as the stars emerge in this special Hermitage program. Presented in partnership with Sarasota Art Museum. Anne Patterson’s Hermitage residency generously sponsored by Ellen Berman & Roy Cohen. Registration is required at HermitageArtistRetreat.org ($5/person registration fee).
