EDC Membership Meeting with Dr. Richard Whitman

The Englewood Democratic Club’s membership meeting will take place at 5:30 on 11/17/21 at the Englewood Chamber of Commerce located at 601 S. Indiana Ave., Englewood.

The last in the series, Water? – what is it Good for? – Absolutely Everything! will be presented by Richard Whitman, Ph.D., State Science officer of the Democratic Environmental Caucus of Florida. Dr. Whitman is an internationally recognized expert in beach and shoreline ecology and has written over 150 widely cited publications. After 40 years of studying aquatic ecosystems as a university professor and federal scientist, he is now retired and living in Port Charlotte, FL.

Dr. Whitman will discuss the ground water and surface water contamination from phosphate mining and will explain the Heal Our Harbor Initiative.

In addition, we will be announcing the winners of our Small Business Empowerment Award which recognizes Englewood businesses which pursue Employee Satisfaction, Sustainability or Community Involvement.
