Mangrove Chapter of the Florida Native Plant Society March Program

The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly
How to choose and care for native trees for your landscape
by Alice White

Alice White is a retired teacher and chair of People for Trees, a non-profit native tree advocacy group she founded in 1997 in order to promote the importance of maintaining and protecting our native tree canopy. The group has planted hundreds of native trees, including 300 street trees along N. Salford Blvd. in North Port.
She recently published a children’s book “The Adventures of Cowboy Jake” celebrating a child’s imagination and the unspoiled natural beauty of Florida that can be in our own backyards.
The event is free and open to the public.
