CHARLOTTE COUNTY WATER QUALITY SUMMIT

SCHEDULE:

1 p.m.            Welcome and Opening Remarks by Commissioner Bill Truex

1:15 p.m.      Policy Panel including Florida Sen. Ben Albritton and Rep. Michael Grant

1:45 p.m.      Policy panel questions and answers.

2 p.m.            Science Panel including Florida Fish and Wildlife Research scientist Institute Kate Hubbard, Mote Marine Laboratory Red Tide Institute director Cynthia Heil, Florida Department of Environmental Protection Everglades technical lead Paul Julian, South Florida Water Management District governmental outreach representative Phil Flood and Johnson Engineering water resources director Andy Tilton.

3:15 p.m.      Science panel questions and answers.

3:30 p.m.      Action Panel including DEP environmental administrator Kalina Warren, UF Extension Services agent Don Rainey, Jones Edmunds & Associates vice president Terri Lowery, Florida Department of Health Dr. Joseph Pepe and Charlotte County Sea Grant agent Betty Staugler.

4:30 p.m.      Action panel questions and answers.

4:40 p.m.      Closing remarks.

Charlotte County Transit will provide free shuttle bus service between Tringali Park, 3460 N Access Road, Englewood and the Charlotte Harbor Event and Conference Center in Punta Gorda for the Water Quality Summit.

 

Shuttle buses will depart from the community center at Tringali Park at 12:15 p.m. and 12:30 p.m. Buses will return to Tringali Park following the summit.
