Lemon Bay Playhouse Celebrates 30th Season

The Lemon Bay Playhouse will host an Open House in celebration of their 30th season of presenting live theater to the community. The free event will be open to the public and will be held on Saturday, December 3, 2016 from 1:00pm to 3:30pm at the theater (96 W. Dearborn St., Englewood, Florida). Light refreshments and snacks will be provided and there will be drawings for door prizes after the event.

The Open House will provide everyone the opportunity to see how community theater operates “behind the scenes.” Tours will be given through many areas of the theater and its annex, allowing visitors to get an insider’s look at the inner workings of the theater.

Volunteers will be on hand to explain and demonstrate many of the functions performed to produce a play, including the Stage Manager’s role, the sound and lighting tech booth, set design and construction, and wardrobe and costumes.

Nearly every task at Lemon Bay Playhouse is performed by a volunteer. It takes a lot of people to create a good community theater. The most visible volunteers are the actors on stage, but there is an entire crew working backstage before, during, and after every production. Other volunteers help manage activities such as the box office, house managing, publications, and special events.

The Lemon Bay Playhouse is in need of hard-working, dedicated volunteers, from serving on the Board of Trustees to acting, from working in the box office to building sets. The opportunities for involvement in the Lemon Bay Playhouse are almost endless. If you are interested, there is a special role waiting just for you. Join us on December 3rd to learn more.
