Captain Rick’s Cardboard Boat Races
Start getting the cardboard boxes, duct tape and paint together – and practice escaping a sinking boat!
Held at historic Indian Mound Park, the race of the cardboard boats has been a popular event in the celebration of Englewood Pioneer Days for many years. Bring your chair and a source of shade – the event starts about 9:00 and lasts until the last boat sinks – um – crosses the finish line.
Anyone is eligible to enter. Safety is very important in the competition. All competitors will be required to wear “real” shoes in the water along with a properly sized life jacket, and trained First Aid personnel will be present to provide first aid for any oyster cuts or other mishaps that may occur.
